Taking Flight brings the DISC styles to life through birds instead of letters. The Dominant (D) style is the Eagle, Interactive/Influencing (I) style is the Parrot, Supportive/Steady (S) style is the Dove and Compliant/Conscientious (C) style is the Owl. The birds get together and ruffle each other’s tail feathers. Rosenberg and Silvert educate us in DISC throughout the fable of the birds.
Part II: The DISC Model was a favorite. Seven Transformative DISC Principles are outlined with real-life situations and examples that truly resonated with me. You’ll learn how to identify others’ behavior styles and the best way to interact with them. See how individuals with different styles can work well together, not so well…and why, be it at work or within your family. Adaptation and flexibility are key factors. We all have the capacity to adapt to different situations through style flexibility.
Maximize and apply your personal strengths to improve your life. You’ll have more effective and productive communications with your team at work and your personal relationships as well. Communication styles can bring us together or tear us apart. Learn how to make a difference through this book!

I read this book in 1989, and it was a fantastic launch pad for my transition into a professional career. During my 30 years of working with leaders, I have referenced Covey’s seven habits many times over. While individuals may commonly be focused on their achievement of outward success, they are not necessarily doing the deep, introspective look at who they are, what they want in life, and what they want to stand for.
In this book, you will discover . . . concrete steps to lead with greater confidence and capability exercises and practical activities to strengthen your leadership in real time stories of how leaders at all levels have changed the environment around them by first changing themselves
